Welcome to the website for Monnis Greek Restaurant & Taverna. 

Based at the former Spread Eagle Hotel, Monnis has undergone a fantastic upgrade over the last year, bringing the building back to its original life and making the most of its traditional features.  

We have brought in top Chef Theophanis from L’Aristos and have transformed it into a beautiful Greek restaurant, offering cuisine based on traditional recipes, which were passed down to him through generations. 

Monnis also offers an extensive menu throughout the day, serving both Greek and English hot and cold dishes.  

We open in the morning for breakfast and customers can choose from a Greek salad to a good old traditional English cooked breakfast.

At 12 noon, our mouth watering Greek specials such as Stifado, Moussaka and Kebabs along with paninis, sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes and other English favourites like fish and chips are all available at very reasonable prices. Aside from great coffees and teas, we also have an extensive wine list to choose from; featuring 6 reds, 6 whites, 2 roses and champagnes all available from our bar. 

From 6.30pm, you are invited to savour our extensive Greek Menu by candlelight, enjoying wine and beer (including some Greek varieties) whilst listening to traditional Greek music and imagining yourself in the Mediterranean! 

Monnis is Witham’s only Mediterranean Restaurant.
